OpenSTA Commercial Modules
OpenSTA although an open source project and toolset does have a highly commercial background, it was originally being developed to be a commercial tool and it was every intention of CYRANO to make money from it. One of the ways that CYRANO intended to make money from OpenSTA was to provide value added modules that could plug into the OpenSTA toolset and make use of its architecture but be licensed and sold in a commercial manner. These modules would have provided extra capibilities such as providing load of protocols other than HTTP, collecting result data from other sources, advanced script creation and modelling, and ?ResultsAnalysis.
Before CYRANO's demise one such module was created which was the DB Monitor this allowed the collection of results data from Sybase, M$ SQL server and Oracle databases. A trial version of this was downloadable from http://opensta.com/ but it is unknown if it wouldl work with the current releases of OpenSTA. Quotium have pushed ahead with very similar modules for QuotiumPro, the status of their interoperability is also unknown.
ToDo: current status? Is anyone providing commercial modules? What versions of OpenSTA do they work with? Legal Status?
